The Indianapolis Indians reinstated Pittsburgh Pirates right-handed pitcher Miguel Yajure from the 60-day disabled list, and he made his first Triple-A appearance on May 26.

Miguel Yajure, a 23-year-old right-handed pitcher, returned to the mound with the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians on Thursday night. The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired Yajure in the Jameson Taillon trade this past offseason.

Yajure only allowed two hits in four innings of work, one of which was a solo home drive, his lone run allowed.

Yajure went on to strike out six batters, walk one, and throw 51 pitches, 31 of which were strikes.

Yajure pitched well against a good squad in his first game back after two brief starts in Low-A, including striking out MLB’s #4 prospect baseman Spencer Torkelson twice.

Yajure began his rehab in late July and made his first rehab appearance on August 6th with the Low-A affiliate squad. He only made one more rehab appearance before starting tonight.

Miguel’s pitch count increased with each start, but he was still on a pitch or inning count during his first game back, and he’ll most likely be on one again whether he pitches with the Pittsburgh Pirates or with Indianapolis.

Yajure has seen no setbacks in his rehabilitation and has reported no pain in the affected area.

This is a very encouraging outing for Miguel and the Pirates organization, as he is still on track to make another major league appearance before the season is out.

With all of the injuries and lack of talent on the Pittsburgh pitching staff, Yajure was the star of the deal with the Yankees and is nearly ready to join the starting rotation long-term.

In the newest version of the MLB pipeline rankings, Yajure is now the Pirates’ 24th best prospect. The reason for his quick decline from 12th to 24th place is primarily due to his injury.

He still has time to get back on track, and if he pitches like he did tonight, he’ll be back at the top of the team’s top 30 prospect list in no time.
