The Yankees traded Yajure, Roansy Contreras, Maikol Escotto, and Canaan Smith-Njigba to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Jameson Taillon on January 24, 2021.

Yajure was placed on the 60-day injured list on June 24 due to right forearm/elbow pain.
